After my husband installed FitBit software on our laptop, our ScanSnap S1500 suddenly stopped working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the original software from CD, run Microsoft's FixIt, shutdown and restarted the laptop several times and the laptop still cannot recognize the Scanner - 'unknown Device'; I have also gone to the Fujitsu website and downloaded all new drivers, shutdown and started. I still get a message the Microsoft stopped the device and a Code 43 error.

I am running Windows 7. The scanner still works without any problem if it is attached to other PCs we own, so I don't think the device or the cable is defective. I'm not particularly tech savvy, but I have followed all the online instructions I could find from Microsoft and from Fujitsu and cannot resolve my problem. Any suggestions? Error code 43 means that a device driver is either missing, corrupt, outdated.
I shall suggest you to unplug the scanner and uninstall the scanner completely from the Device Manager. Now reboot your system plug in the scanner. Let the Windows detect the scanner. If it gets the correct and compatible driver via Windows Update then fine, if it fails to do then visit manufacturer's site to download it.
2nd option: To go for a System Restore. Select any restore point when there was no such problem. S.Sengupta, Windows Entertainment and Connected Home MVP.
